KIT Preparatory Program
What is it?
The KIT Preparatory Program is an intensive course designed specifically for Cambodian high school graduates who aspire to enrol at KIT but need to strengthen their academic foundations. This program focuses on three critical subjects: English, Mathematics, and Physics—providing students with the knowledge and skills necessary to meet KIT's minimum entry requirements.
Through targeted instruction, practice sessions, and personalized feedback, our program bridges the gap between high school education and university-level studies, ensuring students are fully prepared for success at KIT.
Who is it for?
Our Preparatory Program is tailored for motivated students who:
-
Have completed senior high school in Cambodia
-
Aspire to study at KIT but do not currently meet the minimum requirements in one or more core subjects
-
Need to strengthen their academic foundations before beginning university studies
-
Want to increase their chances of success in a rigorous academic environment
Mathematics
The mathematics component spans 15 weeks of comprehensive instruction, with 1 hour of weekly classes plus dedicated problem-solving sessions. The curriculum is structured into five key parts:
-
Part 1: Elementary algebra (2 weeks)
-
Part 2: Coordinate geometry (2 weeks)
-
Part 3: Linear algebra (2 weeks)
-
Part 4: Pre-calculus (2 weeks)
-
Part 5: Introduction to Calculus (2 weeks)
-
Problem-solving (5 weeks)
The total course comprises 15 hours of instruction (10 hours of lectures and 5 hours of problem-solving), followed by a one-week examination period. This structured approach ensures students build a solid mathematical foundation required for success in KIT's technical programs.
English
The English component is a 60-hour intensive College English Preparation Program. Classes are held 3 hours per day, Monday to Friday.
The curriculum is structured into four progressive weeks:
-
Week 1: Foundation Building (15 hours) - Covers academic vocabulary, practical grammar, active reading, note-taking workshops, and digital learning skills
-
Week 2: Academic Writing in Practice (15 hours) - Focuses on essay writing, research skills, citation workshops, academic blogging, and collaborative writing
-
Week 3: Communication Skills (15 hours) - Develops active listening, presentation skills, academic discussion techniques, interview skills, and public speaking
-
Week 4: Integration and Real Applications (15 hours) - Includes mock classes, synthesizing information from multiple sources, presenting research findings, and concludes with a final exam.
Each session includes practical assignments that simulate real college scenarios, with students developing portfolios of their work throughout the program. The program emphasizes real-world materials, hands-on technology integration, project-based assessments, and immediate feedback to build confidence in academic writing, presentations, and classroom discussions while developing university-level vocabulary and grammar proficiency.
Physics
The Physics component consists of 14 weeks of instruction, with classes meeting 1 hour per week for a total of 14 hours of lecture. The curriculum is comprehensively structured to build foundational knowledge across all key areas of physics:
-
Part 1: Introduction (2 weeks) - Fundamental concepts and principles of physics
-
Part 2: Mechanics (2 weeks) - Forces, motion, and Newton's laws
-
Part 3: Fluids (2 weeks) - Pressure, buoyancy, and fluid dynamics
-
Part 4: Oscillations & waves (2 weeks) - Simple harmonic motion and wave properties
-
Part 5: Heat & energy (2 weeks) - Thermodynamics and energy transfer
-
Part 6: Atoms & molecules (2 weeks) - Atomic structure and molecular interactions
-
Part 7: Electricity & magnetism (2 weeks) - Electric fields, circuits, and magnetic phenomena
This comprehensive coverage ensures students develop a strong conceptual understanding and practical application of physics principles required for success in KIT's engineering and science programs.
